Discount: What you "save"

Sale price: What you "pay"

Tax with sale price: The taxes GST and PST are added with the sale price

Example

Shop #1

Cellphone $100 with 50% off

50 / 100 = 0.5
0.5 x $100 = $50

Shop #2
Cell phone $100 with 25% off before 6 PM
25 / 100 = 0.25
0.25 x $100 = $25
$25 - $100 = $75

25% off After 6 PM
25 / 100 = 0.25
0.25 x $75 =  $18.75
$75 - $18.75 = $56.25

#3
15% of 200 = 30 + 200 = 230
10% of 230 = 23 +230 = 253
25% of 200 = 50 + 200 = 250
Kyle is not correct.

#7
a) 10% of 100 = 10 + 100 = 110

    20% of 110 = 22 + 110 = 132
b) I think there was not a 30% increase in population over the two years because the first year the population increased by 10% and 20% increase for the second year.

Show you know :

Store A: 50% off one day only
50% of $200 = $100

Store B: 25% off one day followed by 25% off the reduced price the second day
1st day
25% of $200 = $50
$200 - $50 = $150
2nd day
25% of $150 = $37.50
$150 - $37.50 = $112.50
