Subtracting Integers- To remove what isn't there, you must add a zero pair.
1. -8--8=
#1: You should never write positive or negative, instead you write either have or owe. If there is a double negative, then you remove and if there is no double negative, you just write "and".
Ex: -8--8(double negative)=
Owe 8 remove owe 8
#2: the second step is showing your diagram. You can't remove what isn't there and that's where the zero pair comes in. To remove what isn't there, you must add a zero pair.
Ex: -8--8(double negative)= 0
